Why is Shravan dedicated to Lord Shiva?

The fifth month of the Hindu calendar Shravan, is considered
the holiest month of the year. On the fullmoon day or during the course of the
month the star Shravan rules the sky. Each Monday of this month is celebrated
as a special day in Shiva temples where the dharanatra hangs over the linga and
the idols are bathed with holy water. Devotees pile the linga high with Bel
leaves and flowers and fast till sunset. The nandadeep burns steadily in the
temples. But is this month so special for Shiva devotees? Let`s find out.
