Do not run with painIt is as simple as that! When you are sick, there is no point in working, as you cannot put in the maximum focus. Similarly if you are already in pain or recovering from some injury avoid running. It will only aggravate it. Listen to what the legs say. Otherwise there will no muscle soreness and swelling. And it could get worse with intense running.
