Comparing the sales data of year 2015, Toyota was on first position with sales of 10.15 million vehicles while Volkswagen was second with 9.93 million and General Motors third with 9.8 million. In 2016, Toyota's global sale was slightly better than in 2015 but Volkswagen sale was boosted by 3.8 per cent in comparison to year 2015.
