The data are indeed clearAs long as ten years ago, University of Copenhagen researchers reviewed 14 randomized trials involving more than 170,000 people who took supplements of vitamins A, C, E and beta-carotene. Their aim was to see if these heavily promoted 'antioxidants' could prevent intestinal cancers, as claimed.
The Danish medics concluded: 'We could not find evidence that antioxidant supplements can prevent intestinal cancers. On the contrary, they seem to increase overall mortality.'
