Flying can wreak havoc on your skin. Planes have low humidity, dry cabins, and recycled air that can lead to dehydrated skin, increased oil production, and exacerbate acne in every skin type.
Here are some tips to protect your skin while traveling:
1. Apply a thick moisturizer before you leave, that will not clog your pores.
2. Sunscreen. Sunscreen. Sunscreen. Above the clouds, you are closer to the sun, so you need to be wearing good sunscreen. Airplane windows are not UV proof, which means they offer no sun protection. I recommend wearing at least an SPF 30 and reapplying every two hours.
3. Cleanse, exfoliate, and rehydrate as soon as you make it to your final destination! I recommend using a gentle cleanser and exfoliant as soon as you arrive at your destination, followed by a hydrating serum, moisturizer, and SPF if the sun is still out.
4. Hydrating mask. A hydrating mask is a great way to restore your skin after a long flight, or you can even mask on the plane.
