Motichoor
Ladoo:-
Ingredients
For sugar syrup
1
cup sugar, 1/2 cup water, pinch of saffron powder
For
preparing boondi
1
cup besan/gram flour, 3/4 cup water, a generous pinch of saffron powder, 2-3
black cardamoms/badi elaichi (seeds removed, skins discarded), 1/2 tbsp
magaz/melon seeds, ghee for deep frying, a bit ghee (for shaping the ladoos)
How to make
For sugar syrup
Take
water in a pan and boil it. Dissolve sugar and saffron threads in it. Cook
sugar solution till it reaches one thread consistency and then switch off the
flame. Keep sugar solution aside.
For boondi
Make
a smooth flowing batter of the gram flour with water and saffron. Batter should
be thick flowing without any lumps. Heat ghee in a pan. Use a perforated
ladle/spoon. Take a large spoon of the besan batter and pour it on perforated
ladle/spoon. press with the other spoon so that the batter falls down from the
perforations into hot ghee. Fry boondi till they become golden but they must
not crisp. When oil stops sizzling, remove boondis. Boondi takes about 45
seconds to 1 minute is enough to get correct texture. Take out fried boondi
from ghee with a large slotted spoon/jhara. Drain ghee from boondi and then add
them directly to hot sugar syrup. Boondis should get softened in the sugar
syrup. Take them out from sugar syrup and let them slightly cool. Now add magaz/melon
seeds and black cardamom seeds. Mix them well. Apply ghee on your palms and
shape motichoor ladoos. Garnish motichoor ladoos with melon seeds/magaz. Offer
deliocious motichoor ladoo to lord Ganesha.
