Researchers have discovered two more symptoms of the new coronavirus Covid-19 which some patients have suffered - without having any of the major signs. The key symptoms of coronavirus everyone has been warned off are a new, persistent, dry cough and a fever. Now researchers from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan have warned that a headache and dizziness could also be indicators that you've been infected. In the study, the researchers analysed 214 coronavirus patients, asking them about their initial symptoms.
The results revealed that 36% experienced some form of neurological symptom, including headache, dizziness, muscle inflammation and nerve pain. In some cases, these symptoms were described alongside respiratory symptoms, including a cough and fever. However, in other cases, patients only experienced neurological symptoms.
In their study, published in JAMA Neurology, the researchers, led by Ling Mao, wrote: "Some patients without typical symptoms (fever, cough, anorexia, and diarrhoea) of COVID-19 came to the hospital with only neurologic manifestation as their presenting symptoms.
"Therefore, for patients with COVID-19, we need to pay close attention to their neurologic manifestations, especially for those with severe infections, which may have contributed to their death.
