Heart It

The time of day you apply your products matters.
The circadian rhythm does more than just tell your body when to wake up and go to sleep. It works on a cellular level, telling your skin cells what to do based on the time of day.
Blood flow, hydration, wound healing, tissue regeneration, DNA repair, cell proliferation, and more are all affected by the time of day. The products we use during the AM/PM need to work off our bodies natural processes.
During daylight hours, our skin job is to protect itself from environmental aggressors. Products we would use include antioxidant serums like vitamin c, hyaluronic acid, and obviously our broad-spectrum SPF.
At night, our skin is in repair mode. Regenerating itself and repairing the damage from the day. This is when you use your treatment serums, such as retinol, glycolic acid, and mandelic acid. When we're sleeping we also lose more water, so using a thicker moisturizer or occlusive will help prevent water loss at night.
