Ingredients for Shavige Bath
To make a flavorful Shavige Bath, you’ll need:
For the Vermicelli:
●    2 cups rice vermicelli (shavige)
●    6 cups water
●    1 tsp oil
●    1/2 tsp salt
For the Seasoning:
●    2 tbsp oil (preferably coconut oil for an authentic flavor)
●    1 tsp mustard seeds
●    1/2 tsp turmeric powder
●    1/4 tsp asafoetida (hing)
●    1-2 green chilies, finely chopped
●    1/4 cup peanuts or cashews
●    8-10 curry leaves
●    1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)
●    1/4 cup grated coconut (optional, for garnishing)
●    Juice of 1 lemon (adjust to taste)
●    Salt to taste
Optional Garnishes:
●    Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
●    Fried cashews

Step-by-Step Instructions
Here’s how to make Shavige Bath:
1. Cook the Vermicelli
1.    Boil 6 cups of water in a large pot. Add a pinch of salt and 1 teaspoon of oil.
2.    Add the rice vermicelli and cook for 2-3 minutes or until it softens.
3.    Drain the water immediately and rinse the vermicelli under cold water to stop the cooking process. This also helps to prevent sticking.
4.    Set the cooked vermicelli aside.
2. Prepare the Seasoning
1.    Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a pan or kadai over medium heat.
2.    Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
3.    Add peanuts or cashews and sauté until golden brown.
4.    Stir in the curry leaves, green chilies, asafoetida, and turmeric powder. Mix well for a few seconds.
5.    If you’re using onions, add them now and sauté until they turn translucent.
3. Combine Vermicelli and Seasoning
1.    Reduce the heat to low and add the cooked vermicelli to the pan.
2.    Mix gently to coat the vermicelli with the seasoning evenly.
3.    Sprinkle salt as needed and mix again.
4. Add Lemon Juice and Garnishes
1.    Turn off the heat and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the vermicelli. Toss gently to combine.
2.    If desired, garnish with grated coconut and fresh coriander leaves for a vibrant finish.

Serving Suggestions
Shavige Bath is best enjoyed warm and can be paired with:
