Ingredients

slices of white bread, slices of
cheese/paneer
For
Aloo Masala
1 cup potatoes
(boiled, peeled and mashed), 2 tsp oil, 1/4 cup chopped onions, 1/2 tsp mustard
seeds, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp ginger-green chili paste, 1 tbsp
coriander (finely chopped), salt to taste
For Batter
1 cup besan/gram
flour, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder (haldi), 1/2 tsp chili powder, pinch of asafoetida/ hing, salt to taste,
water as required
How to make
Heat the oil
in pan. Now add mustard seeds and saute onions. Add potatoes, turmeric powder,
ginger-green chili paste, coriander and salt with onion. Mix well all the
ingredients. Now aloo masala is ready.
Cook on a
medium flame for 60 seconds. To make batter, mix besan, chili powder, turmeric
powder, hing, water and salt in a bowl. You can add more water if require.
Spread some aloo
masala evenly on slice of bread. Then put a slice of paneer on it then place
another slice of bread over it. This will look like sandwich. Press it lightly.
Now, diagonally cut the bread into 4 equal pieces. Heat the oil in a pan for
deep frying. Dip a piece at a time in the besan batter and deep-fry this piece
on medium flame till it turns crisp and golden brown. Serve this tasty snack
with tomato ketchup or coriander chutney.
