Heart It
Swelling Of CellsAs your blood gets diluted due to excess water, the concentration of electrolytes becomes lower than that in cells. To maintain a balance between the concentration of electrolytes in the two, water begins to flow into the cells. This results in swelling of cells. When this swelling happens in the brain, you would begin to feel pressure within. The brain resides inside the skull, which is nothing but a flat bony box. The expanding brain presses itself to the walls of the skull. But having nowhere to go, the brain cells might as well end up bursting. This causes mild headaches, seizures, and in some extreme cases, even death.
