"The Duchess and baby are both healthy and well, and the couple thank members of the public for their shared excitement and support during this very special time in their lives," they added in the caption.
The couple took a more private approach than Prince William and Kate Middleton did when welcoming their child. Instead of posing for photos outside of the hospital right after the baby's birth, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex decided not to share delivery plans and kept news of the birth to themselves so they could celebrate quietly with family for the first couple of days.
