With the addition of fresh capacity, Maruti Suzuki was able to register a growth of 45 per cent in utility vehicle volumes, whereas M&M registered a decline of 6 per cent. During the launch of Vitara Brezza, Kenichi Ayukawa, MD of Maruti Suzuki, told that he would aim for the leadership position in the compact SUV space. "I am not surprised by the numbers we have been able to generate in the utility vehicle segment, but I will not read too much in the leadership in utility vehicle segment. It is clear that if you make a good product and offer right quality and features, people will choose your product," added RC Bhargava, chairman of Maruti Suzuki.
