Ingredients
1 cup gram flour, 50 gram mawa, 1/2 cup
ghee, 1 tbsp milk, 2/3 cup sugar, 1/3 cup water, 1/4 tsp cardamom powder, pinch
of saffron, 1/8 tsp nutmeg powder, few almond slices, few pistachio slices
How to make
Take a large plate, place gram
flour. Make well in the center. Heat ghee in a pan over medium flame. Add 2
tbsp ghee and warm milk to gram flour. Mix ghee into gram flour till it look like
breadcrumbs. Sieve flour to remove lumps. Now heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan. Add
flour mixture and fry on low flame until it turns light brown. Now add mawa.
Saute mawa till reddish brown. Take pan off the heat and keep aside. Now
prepare syrup by taking sugar, water and saffron in a pan. Cook it till 2-3
string consistency. Now place flour mixture to a low flame. Pour syrup over flour
and mawa mixture. Add cardamom powder and nutmeg and turn off the heat. Mix
well. Keep it aside, till it thickens on its own. Stir at intervals. Pour into
a greased thal. Sprinkle with almonds and pistachios. When cool cut into
squares or diamonds.
