The engine options, borrowed from the Hyundai Venue, include a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol unit, and a 1.5-litre diesel motor. The turbo petrol engine delivers 118 bhp and a peak torque of 172 Nm and comes paired to a six-speed iMT or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. Next up: The 1.2-litre unit that belts out 82 bhp and 115 Nm and will be available with only a five-speed manual gearbox. Finally, Kia Sonet diesel; Sonet diesel is available in two variants - WGT and VGT. Kia Sonet diesel WGT puts out 99 bhp with 240 Nm and comes paired to a six-speed manual gearbox only. Sonet diesel VGT, on the other hand, makes 113 bhp, 250 Nm, and is offered in combination with a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Kia Sonet SUV has been launched in India at Rs. 6.71 lakh for the entry-level HTE variant with the 1.2-litre petrol engine. Kia Sonet Turbo, on the other hand, starts from Rs. 9.49 lakh while Sonet diesel model's price in India starts from Rs. 8.05 lakh.
