Huawei emerged to be its flagship P30 series of phones. And now, the company is reportedly planning to go bigger with its successor, P40 and P40 Pro. The smartphones are expected to be launched in March 2020 and ahead of their release, leaks and rumours have already started to come in thick and fast about the two phones. In the past, we've read reports claiming that the phones are expected to sport powerful cameras, and now TF securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has added fuel to such claims by saying that the Huawei P40 Pro will support 10x optical zoom.
Kuo explained that Huawei will achieve this by using two mirrors and a prism inside the camera of the Huawei P40 Pro. To remind our readers, this will be double the optical zooming capabilities of the P30 Pro which came with a 5x zoom lens because it integrated a single prism zooming in on objects.
If the Huawei P40 Pro does indeed come with a 10x optical zoom camera, it would make it the first smartphone to get the feature. However, it is interesting to note that Kuo believes that the Huawei P40 won't be the last to get the technology as more smartphones are expected to come with 10X optical zoom systems in the coming year.
According to Kuo the lens being used for the system will be an 8-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with a large aperture of f/4.0. The lens as explained above will use both mirror and prism structures to achieve the zooming capabilities.
