Many people find that wearing more comfortable casual attire is preferable to more formal attire, whether for work, school, or a family gathering. The good news is that comfort doesn't have to come at the expense of style! Even if you can't afford those designer jeans, you can still look put together in casual clothing with imagination and an eye for fabrics and colors!
Looking Sharp in Casual Wear
● Recognize which everyday objects can be dressed up or down. Remember that whatever other elegant pieces you choose to pair with them, certain casual outfits, like cargo shorts, will always seem casual.
● Men's clothing options include blazers, button-down shirts, t-shirts, acceptable jeans, chinos, tailored shorts, casual sneakers, boat shoes, dress shoes, loafers, and brogues.
● Women: Tank tops, fitting shirts, wrap dresses, summer dresses, beautiful jeans, linen pants, sneakers, flats, boots, low heels, and sandals.
Develop a discerning eye: Strive to achieve the ideal harmony between informal and fashionable. Picture a glamorous cocktail party from the 1960s and a carefree beach day. These are two extremes. Consider wearing the items you choose to wear to both events. Choose an ensemble that is too elegant to chance looking scuffed outside but just right to seem like it might on Mad Men.
Choose the suitable material: Steer clear of clothing composed of materials that wrinkle easily, such as silk, rayon, and cotton. Recall that you want to appear polished yet relaxed and that mixing up the textures of your fabrics will make your ensembles more interesting. Therefore, if you can't change clothes during the day, choose materials like:
● Cashmere
● Denim
● Knit
● Leather
● Lyocell
● Polyester
● Wool
Wear more than one layer: You don't have to own an entire wardrobe of exquisite pieces to make an impression on people. Instead, just layer the clothes you already own to create a more unique style. To achieve the "sum-is-greater-than-its-parts" effect, get them to collaborate. As an illustration, you can layer:
● A vest or sweater over dress shirts.
● A blazer or light jacket over a T-shirt.
● Tasteful bras and bralettes under any tops or dresses that offer a glimpse underneath.
● Stockings, tights, or leggings under skirts and dresses.
Use contrast to make your outfit pop: Draw attention to yourself by not having an entirely homogeneous appearance. Add a few details to your outfit to make it stand out from the crowd or to balance out other components.
● Dress all in black, and wear a pair of white shoes (a belt, a tie, or all three).
● Pair a skinny pair of pants with a loose-fitting top.
● Wear a tighter top or jacket with a billowy skirt or dress.
● Pair dark bottoms with light tops and dark tops with light bottoms.
Fill your closet with neutrals: When attempting to match one item of clothing with another, try to make things simple for yourself. Purchase a plethora of neutral-colored apparel so that nearly everything in your possession will coordinate.
● White, black, and grey are perfectly neutral colors. They have a subtle grace about them and are always appropriate.
● Camel, cream, brown, gold, navy blue, olive, and silver are among the more earthy tones.
Use accents: If you want to be identified for a particular color, get multiple items in that hue. If you're not as picky, purchase an assortment of more striking hues. Then, use one of these pieces to liven up your otherwise subdued ensembles. For example, pair a striking red shirt with navy blue trousers and a black leather jacket. Apart from clothing, you can also use accessories to highlight your looks, such as:
● Ties
● Belts
● Jewelry
● Suspenders
● Purses and bags
