Happiness is an elusive goal; everyone seems to want it, but if it
were easy to attain, the whole world would be happy and we wouldn't need
to keep searching for it. It's not easy to be happy most of the time,
but there are some tips that we can apply to make us happier.
Enjoy the Great Outdoors
In
this day and age, the majority of us spend most of our time indoors. We
work indoors, we study indoors, we relax indoors, and somehow
everything outside gets forgotten about for the most part.
Hug
Hugging someone you care about produces special
chemicals that result in a positive state of being. Even better than the
brain cocktail human touch creates is the feeling of connection with
another person. Remove some of the distance and reach out.
Help others
One of the most counter-intuitive pieces of
advice I found is that to make yourself feel happier, you should help
others. In fact, 100 hours per year (or two hours per week) is
theoptimal time we should dedicate to helping others in order to enrich
our lives.
Smile
I know it sounds stupid, but try sitting and smiling
for one or two minutes and see if you feel any better. This is a very
quick hack and even a brief smile can create a tiny jolt. Better yet,
smile when around other people, friendliness is contagious.
