Heart It
Without a doubt, all these inter-species unions are worthy of their own Disney movie. Take the wolf and the bear who struck up an unlikely friendship in the woods of Finland, and have often been seen playing together and sharing food. Or the stray cat who found a forever companion in the shape of a wild fox on the shores of Lake Van in Turkey. More common - but still highly unnatural - are the bonds formed between different animals in sanctuaries and rescue centres. Here, MailOnline Travel presents some of the most unique and enduring friendships ever shared in the animal kingdom.
Baloo the American black bear, Leo the African lion and Shere Khan the Bengal tiger were all rescued by Noah's Ark Animal Shelter in Georgia when they were babies. The unlikely trio were found by police in the basement of an Atlanta home during a drugs raid in 2001.
