Heart It
As we know menstrual hygiene of India is really very poor, statics revile that on global level at least 500 million girls don't have access to hygiene menstruation products. Many skip school during their periods because they can't afford to wear pads. Menstruation is still considered as a taboo in the Indian society. Mothers are also reluctant to talk to their daughters about this topic as many of them lack scientific knowledge on puberty and menstruation. Apoyo foundation conducted a free menstrual hygiene awareness seminar in Jagatpura today with 50 young girls and women present. The focus of the seminar was to give proper knowledge of menstrual hygiene management. This was informed by Founder, Apoyo foundation, Jashan Preet Kour.
Apoyo foundation had an open discussion on the problems, woman face during their periods and introduced a better option for menstrual hygiene such as menstrual cup. Which not only prevents infection but is a more comfortable, ecofriendly, and affordable option. A woman uses 12 pads per menstruation cycle which lead us to use 5000 to 7000 pads in a lifetime. And there is no safe disposal option for pads as a pad takes 5000 years to get properly dispose.
