Renault has been a pioneer in integrating touchscreens into its vehicle dashboards since 2012, starting with the Clio IV and ZOE. Over the years, touchscreens have evolved to offer more intuitive and user-friendly experiences.

Early Innovation
In 2013, Renault introduced 7" touchscreens in the Clio IV and ZOE, enhancing the user experience with easy control of the R-Link multimedia system. Additionally, a joystick with a multi-directional axis was introduced in the Scenic XMOD and Megane, marking the beginning of Renault’s journey towards larger, more responsive touchscreens.

Following Smartphone Trends
The 2014 Renault Espace was equipped with an innovative 8.7" vertical touchscreen as smartphones progressed. This touchscreen provided users with the responsiveness and connectivity similar to that of a smartphone. It offered real-time traffic updates, weather forecasts, and local search capabilities, all of which improved the driving experience.

The OpenR Dual Screen
Renault's commitment to innovation resulted in the creation of the OpenR screen, which debuted in the 2022 Megane E-Tech Electric. This distinctive dual screen, featuring an inverted L-shaped design, comprises a 12" vertical panel and a 12.3" horizontal panel, delivering exceptional design and functionality. Encompassing a total area of 774 cm², the OpenR screen establishes new benchmarks in terms of ergonomics and user experience.

User-Centric Development
Renault's development process has always focused on comprehending and foreseeing user requirements. Prototypes are frequently tested by customer panels to guarantee that new screens satisfy real-world usability and safety needs.

Future Prospects
Renault is committed to innovation by introducing touchscreens designed for individual models. The Renault 5 E-Tech Electric is equipped with a 10.1" horizontal display, while the Renault Grand Koleos provides a panoramic three-screen display to create a fully integrated passenger experience. Renault is dedicated to providing secure and optimal touchscreen solutions as digital technology advances, working towards a future of more ergonomic and intuitive driving experiences.
