Heat the mixture over medium heat for 3-5 minutes. Stir frequently until thickened.
Now add the whipped cream, nutmeg and vanilla extract to the mixture and let it warm. Do not bring to boil. Strain the mixture in a strainer to catch the spices.
Refrigerate in an airtight container. Serve chilled. Garnish with nutmeg.
