Delight of winters: Moong dal ka halwa recipe

Ingredients
1cup yellow moong dal/split yellow gram, few saffron strands, 1 tbsp warm milk, 1 cup ghee, 1 cup warm milk, 1and 1/4 cups sugar, 1/2 tsp cardamom (elaichi) powder, 1 cup warm water
For Garnish
2 tbsp almonds (badam) slivers
How to make
First soak yellow moong dal in water at least for 3 hours. Now drain the dal. Take a mixer and grind it to a coarse paste without using any water. Now keep ground dal aside. Now dissolve saffron strands in 1 tbsp of warm milk and keep aside. Take a kadhai and heat ghee. Now add yellow moong dal paste in kadhai and cook on medium flame for 25 minutes while stirring continuously. Add milk and 1 cup of warm water. Mix them well in kadhai and cook on medium flame for 7 to 8 minutes, while stirring continuously. Add sugar and keep cooking on medium flame for 3 minutes. Keep stirring continuously. Now add saffron-milk mixture, cardamom powder and cook on medium flame for 60 seconds while stirring continuously. Serve delectable and hot Moong dal ka halwa, garnished with almonds.
