Murukku:-
Ingredients
2 cups rice
flour, 1/2 urad dal flour, 1 tsp sesame seeds, a pinch asafoetida, 1 tsp cumin seeds -
3 tsp unsalted butter or dalda, salt, oil for frying
How to
make
Roast urad
dal flour in a pan on very low flame till it gets a light brown colour. You can
also roast urad dal and powder it. Add rice flour, sesame seeds, asafetida,
salt and cumin seeds. Now add butter or dalda to above mixture. Mix it with well
the flour. Add little water to make dough. The dough should have the
right consistency to pass through the murukku press. If the dough is too thick
it will not pass very easily. If it is too thin proper shape won’t be formed. Make
desired shape on a greased plastic sheet with use of murukku press. Remove it gently from the plastic sheet. Deep
fry them all on hot oil. You can also directly press dough into oil instead of
making a shape in a plastic sheet to get a more rustic shape. Fry till they
turn golden brown in colour. Store it for many days.
