When CBFC refused certification to the movie for the use of abusive language. The board's decision came a week after Punjab's ruling party Shiromani Akali Dal protested and expressed reservation over the film for the portrayal of Punjabis in the movie. However, the entire film industry stood united over this and came out successful with the movie releasing with just one cut. The movie went on to become a hit at the box office.
