Your hair can sustain damage from the sun, just
like your skin. UV rays can fade color, increase dryness and give you -
horror of horrors - split ends. Whenever you know you will be out in the
sun for an extended amount of time, bring along a hat.
Sleeping on it
You should take more care in how your hair
is treated while you sleep. If you sleep on a regular cotton pillowcase,
your hair is likely suffering much more wear and tear than necessary.
Hair loss, dryness, and frizziness are all likely results of crushing
your hair on a rough pillowcase while you toss and turn every night. One
of the best things you can do for your hair is switching to a silk
pillowcase. The silk allows your hair to glide easily across the pillow
while you sleep, greatly reducing damage.
Teasing
Reckless teasing or backcombing your hair is highly
damaging as it tangles your hair. In fact, it can lead to split ends
and hair breakage for months. While teasing, when you lift up the
cuticles, it greatly damages the natural fibers of protein that
constitute the cuticles.
