5 Surprising things you can do with your microwave
Sterilizing Sponges
The problem with sponges is they soak the smell of the wiped food and retain it, even after repeated detergent washes. Dejected and annoyed with the pesky smell, most of us throw the sponges away. But, you don't need to do that anymore! Pour a few drops of lemon juice or white vinegar in a bowl full of water and soak the sponge in it. Now, heat it in the microwave for about a minute. This is done because the heat disinfects and deodorizes the sponge and rids your sponge of the most stubborn smells of chicken or raw eggs.
