The final summit of the Appalachian Trail, Mount Katahdin, rises 5269 feet above Baxter State Park and offers incredible panoramic views of the Maine countryside. The trail that leads to the summit is the famous Knife Edge Trail, which covers a myriad of rocky granite terrain. When you reach the top, you are nearly one full mile above sea level.
