To help reduce NVH levels, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class comes with additional absorbent foam around the wheel arches and thicker rear quarter glass. It features active road noise compensation that works in a manner similar to noise-cancelling headphones by channelling counter-phased sound waves through the Burmester high-end sound system to cancel out unwanted low-frequency noises. Most buyers of a car like this will have a chauffeur to handle the task of opening or closing the rear door, but the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will now also do that at the touch of a button or with a hand gesture thanks to the presence of electrically operated rear doors.
Air suspension is standard fitment while rear-wheel steering that can turn the rear wheels by up to 10 degrees and E-Active Body Control that scans the road ahead to adapt to the road conditions preemptively are offered as optional extras.
Mercedes-Benz says the biggest markets for the Maybach S-Class have been China, Russia, South Korea, the USA and Germany and these markets will start receiving the car towards the end of 2020. In 2019, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class averaged 700 units a month in China! Expect the India launch of the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class to take place in 2022. Currently, Mercedes-Benz India lists the Maybach S-Class in two variants with prices ranging from Rs 2.11 crore to 2.79 crore. It will safe to assume that the 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class will be more expensive.
